From January 19 to 20, the 11th Fish & Dragon Festival and the 2024 Chinese Spring Festival Cultural Event co-hosted by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Barbados and the Central Bank of Barbados was successfully held.
On January 19th, the Fish & Dragon Festival Temple Fair was held at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium Complex, which attracted more than 5000 local people and tourists from abroad who were in attendance. The Chinese Embassy, the Chinese Community in Barbados, the Confucius Institute of the U.W.I. Cave Hill Campus, the Chinese Medical Team, and Chinese companies in Barbados separately set up booths to introduce traditional Chinese culture. Art groups presented a spectacular performance, which attracted waves of cheers and applause from the audience and created a warm and festive atmosphere.
On January 20th, the Fish & Dragon Festival Gala was held at the Frank Collymore Hall of the Central Bank of Barbados. Nearly 300 attendees were present, including Barbadian officials, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in Barbados, and friends from various sectors. Guests expressed their gratitude to the Wu Opera Troupe for bringing New Year greetings and blessings, and they highly praised the splendor of Chinese culture and the enduring friendship between China and Barbados.
