Summary of China-Barbados Bilateral Relations

    On May 30, 1977, China and Barbados established diplomatic relations. In recent years, China-Barbados relations have developed smoothly, high-level exchanges between the two countries have continued, friendly cooperation in various fields has been further strengthened, and good communication and cooperation have been maintained in international affairs.

    In June 2013, President Xi Jinping held a bilateral meeting with then-Prime Minister of Barbados Stuart during his visit to Trinidad and Tobago. In July 2021, President Xi Jinping spoke with Prime Minister of Barbados Mottley by phone at his request. In June 2023, Prime Minister of Barbados Mottley made an official visit to China and met with President Xi Jinping. In 2024, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Transport and Works, and Leader of Government Business in The House of Assembly Bradshaw and Minister of Economic Affairs and Investment  Blackman visited China.
