On October 31, Ambassador Zheng Bingkai attended the 2025 “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship” Award Ceremony. More than 80 people were present, including Ms. Marica Strickland, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office, Professor Winston Moore, Mr. Stephen Scott, Deputy Principal, University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Mr. Stephen Scott, Deputy Chief Education Officer, Ministry of Educational Transformation, the Chinese and Barbadian Co-Directors of the Confucius Institute, award recipients, and their parents.

Ambassador Zheng extended his warm congratulations to the scholarship awardees and pointed out that the leaders of China and Barbados attach great importance to bilateral educational cooperation. He highlighted that Chinese language education has become one of highlights in bilateral cooperation and encouraged the students to keep up their efforts, achieve even greater academic success in the future, and contribute to promoting cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and Barbados.
Deputy Permanent Secretary Strickland and Deputy Principal Moore expressed their appreciation for China’s long-standing and strong support for Barbados’ education sector. They encouraged the students to continue studying the Chinese language and culture, and to become inheritors and promoters of the friendship between the peoples of China and Barbados.
