On July 24, the Chinese Embassy in Barbados, jointly with the Latin America Regional Bureau of People's Daily, held a Media Symposium and Reception under the theme "A friend in need and a partner in deed". Around 40 journalists from 8 mainstream media organizations in Barbados , including the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and Government Information Service（GIS）, attended the event.

H.E. Zheng Bingkai, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China stressed in his keynote address that media cooperation serves as an important bond of friendship between China and Barbados. He noted that China has consistently carried out practical cooperation in light of Barbados' development needs and for the well-being of its people. Although China and Barbados are separated by great geographical distance, there are no barriers between them because the two countries share a common philosophy of development.

At the event, Chen Yiming, Director General of Latin America Regional Bureau of People's Daily, representatives of Chinese enterprises in Barbados, and the leader of the Chinese Medical Team to Barbados briefed the participants on the progress achieved through practical cooperation between the two countries in such fields as agriculture, infrastructure and healthcare.

The Barbadian participants spoke highly of the practical cooperation between China and Barbados across various fields and expressed their expectation that the two sides will further strengthen media exchanges and cooperation.
