Gala Performance for the 2018 Chinese New Year and the 4th Fish and Dragon Festival successfully held

On February 22nd, a gala performance for the 2018 Chinese New Year and the 4th Fish and Dragon Festival was successfully held at the Frank Collymore Hall of the Central Bank of Barbados. All together 500 people including H.E. Yan Xiusheng, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Barbados, Governor General H.E. Dame Sandra Mason, Chief Justice The Hon. Sir Marston Gibson, Minister of Labour The Hon. Dr. Esther Suckoo, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office The Hon. Patrick Todd, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mrs. Cecile Humphrey and other government officials of Barbados, representatives of the diplomatic corps, representatives from the Chinese companies, Confucius Institute of U.W.I. Cave Hill Campus, Chinese medical team and Chinese diaspora in Barbados enjoyed wonderful performance from “Beautiful Tianjin” Art Troupe from China.

The venue was full of Chinese new year adornments like Chinese lanterns and knots. The Beautiful Tianjin Art Troupe, coming far away from China to Barbados, presented a fantastic performance including acrobats, singing, dancing and playing of Chinese musical instruments which attracted waves of cheers and applauds from the audience. After the show, the audience was reluctant to leave and expressed their sincere gratitude to Ambassador Yan, showed appreciation to the Beautiful Tianjin Art Troupe for bringing them the best wishes for the Chinese New Year and highly praised the essence of Chinese culture and the friendship between China and Barbados.

Ambassador Yan and Sir Marston Gibson accepted the interview of Tianjin Television. The Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation, The Advocate, The Nation, Barbados Today and other local media also made reports on this gala performance.
