On the morning of 3 December 2015, Chinese Navy hospital ship Ark Peace carrying out the task of code-named Mission Harmony 2015, completed a 7-day good will visit to Barbados and sailed to Grenada for its next port call. Chinese Ambassador Wang Ke, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados David Bulbulia, Acting Chief of Staff of Barbados Defence Force Errington Shurland, Acting Commanding Officer of the Barbados Regiment Michael Jackman, Acting Commanding Officer of the Barbados Coast Guard Mark Peterson and representatives from Chinese enterprises, Chinese Association and the Confucius Institute of UWI in Barbados attended the farewell ceremony for the hospital ship on Berth 6, Bridgetown Port.

During Ark Peace’s inaugural port call in Barbados, Senior Captain Guan Bolin, Task Group Commanding Officer of “Mission Harmony 2015” and Captain Guo Baofeng, Commanding Officer of the hospital ship, accompanied by Ambassador Wang Ke, paid courtesy calls to Acting Prime Minister Richard Sealy, Minister of Health John Boyce and BDF Acting Chief of Staff Errington Shurland. Senior Captain Guan and other officers observed the Independence Parade and welcoming reception held by BDF. They also paid visits to the BDF Headquarters and Coast Guard Base.

During its anchoring in Bridgetown, the hospital ship received over 2400 visits from Barbados officials, Diplomatic Corps, BDF, Barbados public and local Chinese community, carried out some 1038 radiological checks for BDF officers and local Barbadians and offered 426 medical checks and treatments for Chinese Embassy and local Chinese community. 4 teams from the hospital ship visited BDF Headquarter, Vauxhall Senior Village and Violet Gittens Centre to carry out maintenance of medical equipments, to brief on disease prevention and to offer healthcare services and cultural entertainment. Medical staff of the hospital ship together with more than 100 Barbadian counterparts jointly held seminars themed on Medical Response in Disaster, Rescue Operation and Transfer at Sea and traditional Chinese Medicine. The visit has been warmly welcomed and highly praised by Barbadian officials, BDF officers, the public and local Chinese Community.
