At the end of 2023, the Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs was held in Beijing, marking the most authoritative conference in the field of Chinese diplomatic affairs. The conference clarified the main lines and noble goal pursued by China in conducting major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics, namely building a community with a shared future for mankind.

In summary, in building a community with a shared future for mankind, the goal is to build an open, inclusive, clean and beautiful world of lasting peace, universal security and shared prosperity, the pathway is promoting global governance that features extensive consultation and joint contribution for shared benefit, the guiding principle is to apply the common values of humanity, the basic underpinning lies in building a new type of international relations, the strategic guidance comes from the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, and the platform for action is high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. On this basis, we seek to bring countries together to confront challenges and achieve prosperity for all, and usher in a bright future of peace, security, prosperity and progress for our world.

Over the past decade, the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind has been translated from ideas into actions, and has provided effective safeguard for preserving world peace, injected vigorous impetus into promoting global development, and built strong synergy for addressing global challenges. It has been warmly echoed by the international community. Building a community with a shared future for mankind has been written into resolutions of UN General Assembly for seven years in a row, and included in resolutions or declarations of multilateral mechanisms like the SCO and BRICS. China also put forward important initiatives such as building a global community of health for all, a community with a shared future in cyberspace, and a community of life for humanity and nature, giving a strong boost to global governance in various sectors.

    Despite the vast geographical distance between China and Barbados, our destinies are intricately connected. Our two nations share numerous common positions, principles, and broad mutual interests. The consensus on fostering relations between us has consistently prevailed across all walks of life in both countries. In June last year, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley made a historic visit to China, during which the leaders of both countries jointly drew the blueprint for the future development of China-Barbados relations. President Xi Jinping pointed out that Barbados, with its people-centered approach, shares a strong alignment of governing philosophies with the Communist Party of China. Barbados is welcomed to board the 'express train' of China's development and join hands with China to create a harmonious 'concerto' of cooperation, building a closer China-Barbados community of shared destiny. Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley stated that the shared ultimate goal of both countries is to prioritize people's well-being with the utmost desire to improve lives, and that Barbados is ready to strengthen mutual-benefit cooperation with China in various areas.

We believe that guided by the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, our two countries will firmly grasp the correct direction of the development of our bilateral relations, continue to maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges, enhance political mutual trust, jointly build high quality the Belt and Road, work together to implement the GDI, GSI and GCI. This collaborative effort will consistently yield new achievements in China-Barbados cooperation, contributing to the creation of a new and magnificent chapter in the shared endeavor to build a community with a shared future for mankind.
