Ambassador Yan Xiusheng Attended the Delivery Ceremony of 2023 Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Award

On November 10th, Ambassador Yan Xiusheng attended the delivery ceremony of the 2023 Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Award. Over 30 people were present, including Professor Landis, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal of University of West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, the directors of the Confucius Institute, the award-winning students and their parents.

Ambassador Yan extended warm congratulations to the outstanding students who received the Scholarship Award and pointed out that the leaders of China and Barbados attach great importance to educational cooperation between the two countries. During Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley’s visit to China this year, extensive consensus on cultural and educational exchanges between China and Barbados was reached by the leaders of both countries. The "Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Award" is an important initiative to promote educational cooperation between China and Barbados. Ambassador Yan expressed hope that more Barbadian students could learn Chinese language, understand Chinese culture and become messengers and bridges of friendship between the peoples of China and Barbados.

Professor Landis thanked China for its long-standing strong support for Barbados' education and encouraged the scholarship award recipients to diligently study Chinese and Chinese culture, contributing to the enhancement of the enduring friendship between the peoples of China and Barbados and the development of bilateral relations.
