On 13th February, H.E. Yan Xiusheng, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Barbados and The Hon. John Boyce, Minister of Health of Barbados jointly attended the handover ceremony for the medical equipment and materials donated by the Chinese Government to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital(QEH). Mr. Zou Xi, Political Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, Dr. Dexter James, CEO of the QEH and the Chinese Medical Team also took part in the ceremony.
Ambassador Yan thanked the Ministry of Health of Barbados and the QEH for the facilitation of the Chinese Medical Team, pointing out that two groups of sixteen health care personnel have been working at the QEH since last year. With superb medical skills and rich clinical experiences, all members of the Chinese Medical Team have collaborated sincerely with their counterparts at the QEH and performed a large number of operations and administered treatments. The Chinese Medical Team has gained recognition and praise from local patients and made great contributions to the medical cooperation between China and Barbados. The donation is another concrete manifestation of the good friendship between the two countries and two peoples. The Chinese Government is committed to work closely with the Barbadian Government in an effort to further deepen our bilateral cooperation in various sectors including medical and health care to promote a greater development of China-Barbados relations.
Minister Boyce praised the achievements made by the Chinese Medical Team in Barbados and conveyed his sincere thanks for the donation of the medical equipment and materials provided by the Chinese Government. Boyce expressed that the above-mentioned equipment and materials will greatly improve the level of medical services in Barbados.
Zou Xi, the Political Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Barbados and Dr. James, CEO of QEH respectively signed the handover certificate on behalf of both parties.
