Chinese Ambassador Got in Contact with Mount Gay Rum

        On December 6th, 2006, at the invitation of the Mount Gay Distilleries Ltd., Chinese Ambassador to Barbados, H.E. Mr. Liu Huanxing paid a visit to the Mount Gay factory. Warmly greeted and accompanied by both Mr. Antoine Houdebine, the company's Managing Director, and Mr. Wallace Edinboro, Production and Training Manager, Ambassador Liu toured around the factory and received introduction to the production and sales of the well-known Mount Gay rum. During the conversation, the company's manager express his strong desire in exploring direct export to China and opening up bigger markets there.

        As an exchange of information, Ambassador Liu gave a good introduction to the economic development of China and, in particular, the development conditions of the Chinese wine-making industry. He also extended China's welcome to the Barbadian wine-maker for the future participation at China's major trade fairs to present the Chinese consumers with the authentic Barbadian fine wine.

        Rum is a unique wine produced by the Caribbean countries including Barbados. Mount Gay Distilleries Ltd. of Barbados enjoys a more than 300-year's history and its Mount Gay rum owns a high prestige all over the world. Besides domestic markets, this renowned rum is also exported to over 70 countries.
