On April 7th, H.E. Ms. Wang Ke, Chinese Ambassador to Barbados met with Mr. Steven Blackett, Minister of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development of Barbados.
Blackett briefed the development of social and welfare services in Barbados and the achievements that Barbados government has made in helping the orphan, the elderly and disabled and other vulnerable groups of this country. Also, Blackett was delighted with the progress in bilateral friendly cooperation between the two countries, expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for repairing and rehabilitating the China-Aided Sir Garfield Sobers Gymnasium and providing concessional loan to finance the rehabilitation of Sam Lord's Castle Hotel.
Ambassador Wang Ke reviewed the new development of the friendly cooperation between China and Barbados, said that China is willing to work together with Barbados to further deepen the bilateral cooperation in political, economic, cultural and other fields to better benefit the two peoples. Ambassador Wang Ke also shared with the Minister the general situation of Chinese development and its achievements in the field of poverty alleviation.
